ETEC 540 - Module 4 - Rip.Mix.Feed
For this activity, I decided to create a website that I could also share some work in which I used Animoto and Sparkol Videoscribe.
Animoto is free, unless you want to create slideshows over 30 seconds. You have to pay for Sparkol Videoscribe. Weebly is a free site where you can create websites or blogs and it is easy to use.
The Web 2.0 tool I tried out for the Rip.Mix.Feed activity was YouTube Annotation. I decided to try it out on my ETEC 522 Animoto video (which you can see in the Animoto/YouTube Annotation page).

What motivated me to explore the application I used?
I have seen annotations on YouTube videos before, but I never knew how they were created. This gave ma chance to try it out for myself.

What have you attempt to accomplish to achieve in your project?
Honestly, I just wanted to see how easy it was to put "notes" or "chat" boxes into a YouTube video.

What are the particular affordances of this application?
Sometimes there is a good video that I would like my students to watch, but there is either incorrect information or missing pieces. This gives me a way to add this information in without having to create a whole new video. Students can now see correct or missing information.
This application is free and as long as you cam get onto YouTube, you can annotate any video.

What are the potential drawbacks?
It is quite easy to add annotations in, but one has to fiddle with how long the annotation will appear and where it starts and stops in the video. If someone is making a correction, it doesn't change the mistake, it just shows two answers. Students will see both answers and may wonder which one is the correct answer. As well, anyone can annotate any video in YouTube; therefore, additions to one's video could occur without them wanting it to.
